This is the second book in the "sugarland mystery series" and, although I think the first book was a better mystery novel, I really enjoyed this book. It involves a preacher named Bear Wells, his wife and his two daughters --and a very personable Newfoundland dog named Baby Bear. As I said, I think the actual mystery in this installment is a little weak but the characters and their interactions (and conflicts) are superb. This is Southern Texas and I swear I can hear the drawl in the dialogue. Also, despite having a preacher as the main character this novel never becomes preachy. The first book is called "Faihful Unto Death"
