This program tells the story of Cinco de Mayo - in particular the Battle of Puebla on May 5th, 1862 - which marks a turning point in the resistance against French occupation, a resounding win by the Mexican army led by Ignacio Zaragoza. Coming after Mexico's civil war, the struggle against the French invasion helped develop a sense of national unity and pride that is celebrated today.
