William Smeal writes to William Lloyd Garrison relating an invitation "from A.F. Stoddard, an American merchant here ... [to] thyself, son & Daughter to lodge at his house." Smeal calls Stoddard "a thoroughly right minded fellow countryman of thine, & [he] most kindly & cordially professed his hospitality." He also sends Garrison a newspaper notice announcing "the breakfast" on July 19, with Dr. George Jeffrey presiding and an address by Dr. William Anderson, "& a few others will share in the proceedings." Smeal also asks if George Thompson is coming, noting that he knows two families that will host him, and he asks Garrison for Thompson's address. In the postscript, Smeal asks again, "Hast thou any idea if George Thompson proposes to be here?"
