This "New York Times" bestseller by the lead singer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers is a compelling story of the price of success and excess, dedication and debauchery, intrigue and integrity, and recklessness and redemption that could only come from the world of rock.

My favourite auto/biography. This book is very entertaining, and gives you a peer into the life of an addict. Very descriptive and a fun read. If you are a Chili Peppers fan you will love this book because it takes you through the story of the band and it's members, and even gives some details behind the writing and creation of some songs.

This book is good read. The stories he tells can be shocking, heartbreaking and funny. What I took away from this book is the importance of giving back what you have learned though your trials and tribulations which seem to help Kiedis with his drug abuse issues.

Just picked up my hold for this book at the library, and was very disapointed to see that someone had ripped out almost all of the photographs from the book.

Great depiction of a story of a man who truly lived like a rock-star to the point, sex drugs and rock and roll .And shared his struggles and his hardships. The good and the bad its all in here, for a recovering addict it was a little triggering all the talk of shooting drugs , but the book is true and honest and there are some amazing funny stories in this book. A must read for any Red Hot Chilli Peppers fan. Its a miracle he still leading the band to this day after you this you will understand what i mean, it said he clean from 2003 and i truly hope he still is and believe he is!!! GREAT DOCUMENTARY. 16 PLUS....

I am a massive Chili Peppers fan, and I personally loved this. It is not about the band per se, so don't get this if that's what you're looking for. I did really enjoy hearing about the members and especially Anthony Kiedis as people. It was a little shocking sometimes, and funny at others.

Don't think this is a book about The Red Hot Chili Peppers. It is a book about Anthony Kiedis' drug addiction. The Red Hots are mentioned but only insofar as they relate to his drug problems. As are his girlfriends. If you want to read about addictions then this is the book for you. One can't imagine how much good work may have been achieved if he could have handled his life differently.

This is a book about a disfunctional, egotistical and entirely sick person. The book should be called "Anthony Kiedis' sex life and drug addiction". These are two major themes in his book and in his life, none of which are particularly original or inspiring... It is astonishing and ironic that this sick person was/is a hero for an entire generation of young kids, who loved him and his music (like I did). I can respect him for his honesty and courage but not for eating snot or defecating into a pizza box and delivering it to the record company or for his mysogynistic escopades or for mooning random people. I certainly feel differently about his music after reading this book. An eye -opener.

This book was a very quick read, intriguing and very fast passed. It can be repetitive, but considering that it is his journey through drug addiction and fame, it is to be expected in rock n roll memoirs such as this. He tends to glorify a lot of his recklessness, which makes him seem very immature, but still manages to squeeze in some good wisdom here and there.

Never mind struggles with fame and sobriety ... this band struggled all-too-frequently with date rape that went unreported or not legitimately considered. Don't treat Kiedis, or any other Peppers, with too much awe ...

great book. Anthony's life is described in an amazing way. the book is a good length. it's a very descriptive story, a little intense for someone under the age 16 but a true fan would love it.
