Great fun! I've become a zombie fan in the past few years and really liked the zombie stories. I thought the unicorn stories would be tolerable but they were actually mostly good (one or two was a bit fantastical for me, but I found something to enjoy even in those).

Zombie fans should check out... Read More »

Zombies Vs. Unicorns is an entertaining anthology of short stories. I especially liked the hilarious banter between Holly and Justine throughout the book. I am definitely part of Team Zombie, but those Unicorn stories were just as wonderful! (Some of my favorite authors are on Team Unicorn.) Through this anthology, I learned that both zombies and unicorns represent abstract ideas (i.e. death and healing) which can be molded in endless ways. Zombies and unicorns are actually quite similar to each other. Both battle with being "ignorantly" characterized at one end of the good and evil spectrum; when in reality, there is a nice mix in the gray zone. I want more anthologies like this one!!!

Zombies won this round. I was rooting for the unicorns but it was not meant to be. Carrie Ryan's Bougainvillea made my choice for me. And though it sounded geeky when I first started reading it, I just couldn't stop and I recommend this to those who just want a fun and light read..sort of.

Zombie's totally won! Just with the first Zee story "Love will tear us apart" and admit it some Unicorn stories were down right boring. And let me warn you IF YOU ARE UNDER 13 DO NOT READ IT IS A LITTLE GRUESOME AND SEXUAL! who else has a feeling this would make a great TV show?

I haven't yet had a chance to read this, but numerous friends have recommended it, and I am looking forward to entering the battle between Zombies and Unicorns.

Horrible. The language and themes in here are ridiculous to be in the YA category. What do we classify as OK for the "teen" category? Do you want your 14 year old reading about sex and multiple "f" words? I recommend this come with a warning label.

the care and feeding of your baby killer unicorn was great, but overall, I think the zombie stories are more interesting.

Zombies vs. Unicorns is a showdown between two mythical creatures as hosted by Justine Larbalestier and Holly Black and meant to assist the reader in determining whether they are on Team Zombie or Team Unicorn. The stories are by well known writers from the fantasy genre, Libba Bray, Naomi Novik and Garth Nix, just to mention a few. This is a head on battle, alternating creature stories in an all out bid to take top honors. The winner? The reader of course.

Popular young adult authors such as Scott Westerfeld, Meg Cabot & Garth Nix each get a short story exploring the eternal debate -- which is better: unicorns or zombies?! Which would YOU choose?!

Coarse Language: Really?

Sexual Content: Ridiculous that this is a YA/Teen book. My 12 year old reads YA fantasy books and found the title very interesting. When he started reading it, he found it repulsive. When he showed me, so do I. Ridiculous.
