I don't tend to read romance anthologies, because they almost never work for me -- <100 pages per story is never enough for me to feel fully invested in the couple in question. However, I will read anything Julia Quinn ever writes, which is what led me to this give this one a chance -- and I'm glad I did. The conceit of this one -- that there are four best friends from finishing school who pass around a lucky sixpence -- strengthens the individual stories, because they feel more like parts of a cohesive whole, and while I definitely preferred some of the stories to others, I found this, overall, to be quite successful and generally charming.
