I have read every one of Norah Lofts books that I was able to borrow from the library!
She is to me, the most wonderful of writers in the historical fiction genre.
Norah Lofts takes you back in time with mesmerizing characters and fascinating stories of the times they lived in by focusing on a house that was built and then following down through the years of the people who loved and lived in it.
I have reread many of her books and absolutely love her grasp of history, love and sorrow.
5 stars + from me.

This wonderful read has everything I love about Norah Lofts - engaging characters, true historical detail, and a wonderful story that spans the centuries. Each section tells of the house called Pargeters, so that the reader can get a full view of the changing nature of the times that the owners live in. This is a book that I have returned to again and again - truly one of the great reads of my life!
