I have issues when it comes to books that seem to stretch on and on in the series. Major issues. This is why I struggled getting through this book and the last one. I absolutely hate it when authors don't meet their expectations for the consecutive books after the first, major ones. Maybe ones standards should be lowered before reading, which I suppose is the only method of enjoying all books. But here, Lena and Ethan just seem like two characters thrown into too many situations with too many similar ideas. Beautiful Creatures was good, but the concepts started mashing around afterwards. It wasn't so much as a decline, but a steady graph with a line that just kept at its flat rate. Ethan and Lena became so much more predictable at times, and not at others, that it just got distracting. - @Siri of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library
