Fans of the Californication television series should go a step further and read "God Hates Us All", a book written by Jonathan Grotenstein (credited to the fictional character Hank Moody) as an extension of the show. Then, fans should look into books by Bukowski, whose biographical protagonist, Henry Chinaski, was the template for Hank Moody's character. Real fans will want to go one more step back and read books by John Fante to get to know the story of Arturo Bandini, the character Fante created who later inspired Henry Chinaski.
