The author of “Stargirl” takes on another difficult topic for children’s literature: WWII with all its horror, and the Nazi holocaust, seen through the eyes of an orphaned, amnesiac 8-year-old boy. Full of disconcerting details and uncomfortable juxtapositions (but nothing gratuitous), this little book doesn’t hold back when addressing problems that often aren’t to be found in “books for kids”.
