The 2016 film Miracles from Heaven, tells the real life story of the Beam's family and Annabel Beam's near death experience. This movie was truly a rollercoaster of emotions. When I began watching the film I thought I had a fairly good idea of how the movie would progress but at the end I was pleasantly surprised. Jennifer Garner's performance as Christy Beam was very well done. Multiple times throughout the film I was moved and almost brought to tears. This movie was definitely thought provoking and makes me rethink how I view things in my everyday life. 3.5 Stars. @Ruby_Tuesday of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board This dramatic fantasy film tells the story of a young girl who has a rare and irreversible disease that makes it impossible for her to digest food, leading her doctors to believe that the end is near. But, after getting in an accident and briefly dying, she awakes and claims that she has been to heaven. To the shock of her doctors as well as her mother, her condition seems to be improving. This religious film is definitely about creating miracles and having trust in your faith, in the hope that everything will work out in the end. Cheesy and overly dramatic at times, the movie was still heartfelt and sincere. I would rate this film 3.5/5 stars. @The_Reviewer of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board Miracles from Heaven was an amazing movie about a little girl who was diagnosed with an incurable disease. Throughout the movie you follow the girl and her family on their journey of trying to deal with this disease, and her family doing everything they can to make her feel better. You see how the diagnosis takes a toll on the family as they are having to spend lots of money on getting her to the right doctor and paying for all the medication she needs. I found this movie very inspiring as the characters stayed strong throughout the story no matter how badly they wanted to give up. I also found the characters realistic and easy to relate to. The story was well told and portrayed, and what amazed me even more was how it was based on a true story. I feel that the movie was very inspiring, relatable, and well told. I would definitely recommend this movie to everyone as it’s an amazing story that everyone should see. Rating 5/5. - @novelidea of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library Miracles from Heaven is the perfect movie that is filled with important morals about family, hope and miraculous recoveries. The story of Anna and her incurable disease pulls your heartstrings as you watch the pain and sadness that goes on during this emotional and hard time for her family. Seeing Anna in such pain brought literal tears to my eyes and the play by play of this movie was beautiful; I think my whole family was in tears after she was rescued from the hollow tree. When I watched this movie, I didn’t feel the need to criticize their religion and I thought that they did their best to make it as real as possible. I don’t think this movie should not be watched because of its religious aspect because there is much, much more to be appreciated. When you take into context that this is just the story of a young, sick girl it really adds to the overall experience and your attitude towards the movie.
