This is a great guide for anyone interested in starting a pilates practice. It is full of pictures illustrating proper form and technique for performing each exercise—mostly done a mat—from beginning sequences to more advanced. It covers special equipment such as the Reformer (usually only available in a studio) and has a section on how to create your own home studio using inexpensive props without having to purchase the expensive reformer. There is also a section that pinpoints special areas to help posture, sports and fitness goals, and Pilates Rx to avoid injury. Don't skip the beginning section on the birth of Pilates and the man who created it: Joe Pilates; it's a fascinating read.
