This book, with contributions from key players who fuel the debate on the meaning and definition of secularism in 21st-century Quebec, comes at the right time. The texts by Thomas De Koninck, Jacques Dufresne, Georges Leroux, Guillaume Rousseau , Mathieu Bock-Côté, Normand Baillargeon, Mohamed Lotfi and Charles Le Blanc do not defend a particular thesis about secularism. They rather form a set of polyphonic reflections which present themselves as a philosophical, legal, political and sociological contribution to the question of the religious neutrality of the State. At the end of the collection appears a text by Voltaire on tolerance, which comes to both place the issues addressed in a historical perspective and illustrate the ongoing nature of a debate of which this book is intended to be one of the many echoes.
