Third edition of the treatise on military architecture, Della fortificatione delle citta, by Jacopo Fusto Castriotto, who worked on the Borgo fortifications in Rome, and later became General Superintendent of Fortresses in France. The treatise was extensively edited, annotated, and published posthumously by Castriotto's friend, military engineer and urban planner, Girolamo Maggi. Castriotto provided the technical and practical problems of fortification, while Maggi supplied commentary, and classical and historical examples.
