She employs a notion of memory that is less associated with discrete and concrete acts of remembering and more with a practice that is not an end in itself, but a field of political action, knowledge, and the transmission of meaning, imagination, creation, and affect. In *Avanzar a tientas. Memorias, violencias y producción de conocimiento* (Advancing Groping: Memories, Violence, and the Production of Knowledge), the author examines the impact of colonial and capitalist forces on bodies, cultures, and territories, as well as on the memory of subjugated groups. Understanding that attempts to control the memory of colonized peoples are simultaneously projects to suppress knowledge and archives, the book examines the work of memory from three axes of inquiry: the sites of the questions, the horizons of the endeavor, and the movements that inform knowing. Taking into account complex scenarios in which ethical and epistemological challenges manifest themselves, Pilar Riaño reflects on difficult knowledge, disputes and memory as a methodology, considering the plurality of its languages and dimensions of action.
